STANDBY - HIBERNATE

In the context of energy-saving features, Windows offers the possibility to set the computer to standby mode or hibernation (sleep) mode since Windows 98 / Windows 2000, if this option is activated in the control panel.

HIBERNATE: Puts the Computer into hibernation.

When you use the hibernation mode, the contents of the main memory (RAM) is dumped to the hard drive. This data is saved in the special system file HIBERFIL.SYS in the root directory of the C: volume. (In case you cannot see this file, even though the option to enable sleep mode is activated, your Windows Explorer may be set to hide system files.) This file is naturally about the size of your computer's main memory. After starting your computer again from hibernation mode, the file contents are read back into your RAM and your PC is at exactly the same point at which it was before being put into hibernation mode (aside from volatile resources such as dial-up connections.)

If your system does not support hibernation mode, this command activates standby mode instead!

Note: If you want the Computer to restart automatically at a specified time and day, please use the command PC-TIMER.

STANDBY: Puts the Computer into standby.

Command (after wakeup):
Z-Cron can run a job right after return from hibernation or standby mode. This job does not have to be scheduled seperately and can be deactivated. Deactivating the Z-Cron job you select here plays no role for the execution after return from sleep mode and assures that it is not run on any other condition.

Show login screen:
The password prompt that occurs at the return from hibernation or standby mode can be deactivated in the energy settings of your workstation. The built-in option works only on Windows XP and only if Z-Cron is not installed as a system service.
