HOSTPING can be used to check the availability and response time of a computer in a network by using its host name. The command sends small packets to the target computer and measures the response times. The target computer can be specified by its host name. HOSTPING repeats the ping process 5 times and writes the result statistics to the log file.
If the hostname cannot be reached, Z-Cron starts the indicated Z-Cron job and sends out a report.
