Data Execution Prevention

Z-Cron and Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

Data Execution Prevention, or DEP, is a Windows security feature that helps prevent programs from executing code from protected memory areas. It is intended to protect the system against certain types of malicious or faulty program behavior. In rare cases, DEP may also terminate a legitimate program. If Z-Cron closes unexpectedly during activation and no error message is displayed, DEP may be the cause. In this case, add Z-Cron to the DEP exception list and repeat the activation.

Changing DEP settings

Open the Windows Control Panel and select "System". Then open "Advanced system settings".

In the "System Properties" window, select the "Advanced" tab. In the "Performance" section, click "Settings...".

In the "Performance Options" window, open the "Data Execution Prevention" tab. There you can add Z-Cron to the list of programs that are excluded from DEP monitoring.

After changing the setting, restart Z-Cron and repeat the activation.

Do not disable DEP completely unless this is required for troubleshooting. In most cases, it is sufficient to add only the affected program to the exception list.
