Synchronization - deleting files

Recycle Bin / Directory

This option lets you specify exactly what to do with files that are due to be deleted or overwritten during a synchronization. If this option is activated, those files can be moved to the Windows recycle bin or a directory of your choice.

Windows Recycle Bin

If this option is selected, the files are moved to the recycle bin of Windows. Make sure that the recycle bin is not deactivated and that enough free space is reserved for it. If you want to use this option, it is advisable to set the maximum size of the recycle bins on all drives to 50 %.

If the synchronization is started on schedule by Z-Cron, a user account must be provided (in the scheduler) to ensure that the backup process has access permissions to the Windows recycle bin, even if no user is logged in at the time of the backup.

Files that are located on another computer in a network and files that are too large or whose name is too long (> 255 characters) are not moved to the recycle bin!

Z-DBackup recycle bin
If this option is activated, the files are moved to a dedicated directory, the Z-DBackup recycle bin directory. It must be located on the same partition as the source or target directory of the synchronization.

 Automatically delete files
The files are automatically moved to the specified recycle bin or directory after the backup and the dialog window to confirm this action is deactivated.
