SMTP Server Settings

Specify the settings for the SMTP Server that will be used by Z-DBackup for sending e-mails.

The SMPT server can be an IP address or a domain name. If you enter a domain name, make sure that the DNS server settings are correctly configured on your computer and that the computer is connected to the internet.

SMTP -- stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol

Most e-mail systems that send mails over the internet use SMTP for sending them from computer to computer. Most SMTP server also accept system notifications and forward them to their recipient address.

Provider
You can select an e-mail provider from the list. If you do so, the settings for SMTP Server, Server Port and Connection will be added automatically. If your provider isn't in the list or you want to set the settings manually, please choose Manual Selection.

SMTP-Server
Enter the SMTP server of your e-mail provider here. The SMTP server is the server your provider uses to send e-mails with. (usually mail.providerName.com)

Server-Port
The port of the SMTP server

Connection
The type of connection established to the SMTP server. You can choose between default (no encryption), SSL and STARTTLS.

Time-Out
The time Z-DBackup will wait for an answer from the server (in seconds). The default value of 30 usually doesn't have to be changed

SMTP-Server requires login
A provider usually asks for authetification of the user, before their mail server can be used in order to prevent the sending of spam mails over their servers.
In this case you have to enter your account details in the fields Account and Password. (usually the same as your POP3 account/user name and POP3 password.)
