Registry Backup
|
Experienced users will be fond of the possibility to selectively backup data from the system registry. Only experienced users should backup and restore registry data.
Z-DBackup can back up any subkeys of these root keys:
▪HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
▪HKEY_CURRENT_USER
▪HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
▪HKEY_USERS
▪HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
Backups of the root keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG are generally discouraged, because those usually only contain temporary values that are copied from HKEY_USERS and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE at runtime. The root key HKEY_DYN_DATA is usually not included in the list of root keys because it only contains dynamic data for Windows services that do not need to be backed up.
Backup and restoration of registry data is only possible if your user account is not restricted to access these areas.
