Backup in a Network

Backup in a network or to an external hard drive
Because of the growing popularity of Network Attached Storage (NAS), the option network backup was introduced with version 3.6 of Z-DBackup. If this option is enabled, Z-DBackup also includes all open files (Open Shared Files) in the backup, with a corresponding note in the backup log.

If Z-OpenLock  is not installed, files that are opened by other applications for exclusive write access (FileLock) are detected during the backup and will be skipped with a remark in the backup log.

Maximum performance
Deactivate this option to prevent Z-DBackup from being too fast for slower components (USB 1.1 or network drives) and leaving them behind or freezing from time to time. This prevents the backup from being aborted when slow backup mediums are used. You can specify a delay of 0-10 ms in the program settings .

The option Network backup is also perfectly suitable for backups to external USB hard drvies as long as no multi-spanning is needed.
