When using tape drives, you should not rely solely on the hardware detection built into Windows. It is recommended to always install the drivers from the manufacturer's installation CD. If the installation CD is not available or is outdated, you should try to download the latest driver or the driver installation software from the tape drive manufacturer's website.

Note: Some manufacturers of tape backup software install their own drivers, which may not be compatible with Z-TapeBackup. If you already have another tape backup software installed on your computer, you should also check the driver installation.

After installing Z-DATdump, check to ensure that you have installed the appropriate driver for your tape drive.

Make sure that you have not installed a standard Microsoft driver. Additionally, the driver for your tape drive should only be installed once! Only an autoloader requires two drivers: one for the tape drive and another for the mechanism that handles tape changing.

If your driver installation is corrupted, it may help to uninstall all tape device drivers and restart your computer. Repeat this process until Z-TapeBackup no longer shows any installed Tape drivers in the diagnostics window. Only then should you reinstall the original driver for your tape drive!

As the developers of Z-TapeBackup, we do not provide hardware drivers for tape drives, nor do we offer drivers for download. Additionally, we are unable to assist in finding drivers for outdated hardware on the internet.
